INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Several Great Lakes Valley Conference softball standouts earned regional honors this past week by both Daktronics and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). A total of 19 GLVC players earned 33 All-Midwest Region honors, including UIndy’s Casey Williamson and Jennifer DeMotte adding to their GLVC Player and Pitcher of the Year honors as the Daktronics Midwest Regional Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis has secured the eighth and final spot in this week’s 2012 Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Championship Tournament, which takes place May 10-13 at both Bosse Field and USI Field in Evansville, Ind. With a two-out, bases loaded, two-run single to left centerfield, sophomore Taylor Holman gave the Tritons a 2-1 victory over Missouri S&T on Tuesday and their first bid to the conference’s postseason tournament since 2004. The seven other league squads that make up the eight-team field were announced Sunday, led by top seed and GLVC East Division Champion, Indianapolis (26-8). The Greyhounds will be joined by No. 2 seed Northern Kentucky (25-11), No. 3 Missouri S&T (20-10), No. 4 Rockhurst (20-11), No. 5 Quincy (19-12), No. 6 Missouri-St. Louis (20-14), No. 7 Drury (21-15), and No. 8 Lewis (21-15).

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced Monday that Missouri-St. Louis junior second baseman Charlie Mohr (Alton, Ill./Alton HS/Lewis & Clark CC) and senior pitcher Austin Schuler (McKinney, Texas/McKinney HS) have been named the GLVC baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

A pair of GLVC softball squads have advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division II Softball Championships, and will vie for the Midwest Regional title against each other next weekend. Northern Kentucky and Saint Joseph's will play in a best-of-three series in the Midwest Super Regional next week, with the winner advancing to the Division II World Series in Louisville.

RENSSELAER, Ind. – For the third consecutive season, the University of Indianapolis’ men’s and women’s track and field teams captured the 2012 Great Lakes Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship. The event concluded under the lights Saturday at the Michael J. Vallone/Class of 1960 Track and Field Complex on the campus of Saint Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Ind. The Greyhounds earned a 186-118 victory over the Missouri S&T men’s squad and a 192-157 victory over Bellarmine on the women’s side.
