GLVC Volleyball Championship Tournament Returns to
East Peoria for 36th Annual Event
The 2017 Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Championship Tournament returns to the EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Illinois for the 36th edition of the annual event, Nov. 17-19, and is the fourth consecutive year the postseason event has been held at this venue.
Four quarterfinal matches will be contested on Friday, Nov. 17, with the first beginning at 11:30 a.m. CT. A pair of semifinal matches will be played at 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, with the championship match held at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19.
Lewis leads the current Conference contingent with nine titles, followed by UIndy’s five, Southern Indiana and Truman State's two, as well as Rockhurst with one championship. As for former league members, IPFW earned eight titles, Northern Kentucky won seven, and Ashland and SIU Edwardsville captured one title each.
In 2016, West No. 2 seed Truman beat East No. 2 seed McKendree 3-0 (28-26, 25-17, 25-19).
The remainder of the 2016 GLVC Championship Tournament field was comprised of No. 1 Lewis, No. 3 Drury and No. 4 Indianapolis in the East, along with No. 1 Rockhurst, No. 3 Missouri-St. Louis and No. 4 Quincy in the West.
