GLVC Volleyball Championship Tournament Returns to
East Peoria for 37th Annual Event
The 2018 Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Championship Tournament returns to the EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Illinois for the 37th edition of the annual event, Nov. 8-10, and is the fifth consecutive year the postseason has been held at this venue.
Four quarterfinal matches will be contested on Thursday, Nov. 8, with the first beginning at 11:30 a.m. CT. A pair of semifinal matches will be played at 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, with the championship match held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10.
Lewis leads the current Conference contingent with 10 titles, followed by UIndy’s five, Southern Indiana and Truman State's two, as well as Rockhurst with one championship. As for former league members, IPFW earned eight titles, Northern Kentucky won seven, and Ashland and SIU Edwardsville captured one title each.
In 2017, top-seeded Lewis rallied from 0-2 down to defeat No. 3 Rockhurst in five sets (22-25, 25-27, 25-19, 25-19, 15-8).
The remainder of the 2017 GLVC Championship Tournament field was comprised of No. 2 McKendree, No. 4 Bellarmine, No. 5 Illinois Springfield, No. 6 Missouri-St. Louis, No. 7 Truman State and No. 8 Indianapolis.
