SOMERS, Wis - Micah VanDenend has been selected as the new head women’s and men’s track and cross country coach at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. He was selected from nearly 100 inquiries from around the nation. VanDenend’s term will begin immediately.

SOMERS, Wis. - The past 29 years have seen Mike DeWitt as the head coach of the UW-Parkside women’s cross country program, as well as being the head coach of the women’s track team since 1982, and, in 2007, he took over the combined programs of men’s and women’s track and cross country.

INDIANAPOLIS – The GLVC has selected five student-athletes as Scholar-Athlete of the Year in their respective sports for the 2009-10 fall season. Drury’s Jaime Villa Zapatero and Blake Wilson, Indianapolis’ Kyleigh Turner, Quincy’s Jenna Boyko and Southern Indiana’s Mary Ballinger are the fall recipients.

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—Sophomores Dustin Emerick (Elmwood, Illinois) and Brendan Devine (Bethel, New York) each earned All-America honors Saturday as the No. 16 University of Southern Indiana men’s cross country team finished sixth out of 24 teams at the NCAA II Cross Country Championships, which were held at the USI Cross Country Course.

SOMERS, Wis. - The Southern Indiana men's cross country team will have the opportunity to compete for a national championship on its home course following a third-place finish at the 2009 NCAA D-II Midwest Regional hosted by UW-Parkside on Saturday. The Eagles advance to the National Championship hosted by USI on Nov. 21.
