SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Chad Jones has been named the head men’s soccer coach at UIS it was announced today by Prairie Star Director of Athletics Rodger Jehlicka.

INDIANAPOLIS – The GLVC has selected five student-athletes as Scholar-Athlete of the Year in their respective sports for the 2009-10 fall season. Drury’s Jaime Villa Zapatero and Blake Wilson, Indianapolis’ Kyleigh Turner, Quincy’s Jenna Boyko and Southern Indiana’s Mary Ballinger are the fall recipients.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Great Lakes Valley Conference swept the Men's Soccer NCAA Division II All-Midwest Region First Team honors as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). GLVC players were named to each of the 11 first-team positions and six of the 11 second-team positions.

TAMPA, Fla. - The 20th-ranked Lewis men's soccer team led ninth-ranked Lees-McRae by two goals with seven minutes to play in regulation on Thursday afternoon in the NCAA National Semifinals held at Pepin Stadium. The Flyers (16-3-3), however, were unable to hold the lead and following a double-overtime 2-2 tie, had their season end in a penalty kick shootout, 5-3.

KANSAS CITY - Northern Kentucky junior forward Steven Beattie has been named to the Daktronics, Inc. Men's Soccer All-America First Team as announced by the organization on Wednesday. Beattie is one of eight GLVC men's soccer student-athletes to earn All-America recognition by Daktronics, Inc.

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis men's soccer team defeated 14th-ranked Charleston (WV) in the NCAA Division II Quarterfinals on Saturday, 4-1, and with the victory earned a trip to the National Semifinals. The Flyers (16-3-2) received the game-winning goal from senior Nestor Hernandez in the 72nd minute.
