STARKVILLE, Miss. After capturing the school's first Midwest Region and Super Regional titles in 2009, the University of Indianapolis softball team has been picked fifth in the NFCA Division II Top 25 Preseason Poll.

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis softball team has been selected as the favorite to win the 2010 Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Championship in a vote of the league’s 15 head coaches. The Greyhounds, who advanced to the NCAA D-II World Series in 2009, collected 196 total points in the annual GLVC Preseason Poll.

ASHLAND, Ohio-  Maggie Swanson (South Bend, Ind./Kankakee CC) hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning helping UIndy to a 6-4 win in the championship game of the NCAA Midwest Regional at Brookside Park.  The win marked the first regional championship for softball at UIndy and puts the Hounds in the final 16 teams in all of Division II. EAST PEORIA, Ill. – Behind a barrage of home runs and a clutch pitching performance from sophomore April Ehlers, the Northern Kentucky Norse topped Lewis University, 10-2 in six innings, in the championship game of the 2009 Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Tournament held at the EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Ill. on Sunday afternoon.
