Three GLVC Players Named to Academic All-District Second Team
INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis' Kyleigh Turner, Lewis' Stephanie Sagat and Missouri S&T's Julie Meyer have been named to teh 2009 ESPN the Magazine College Division All-District Second Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Turner and Sagat were selected in District 5 and Meyer was a District 7 selection.
Turner, a senior libero for the Greyhounds, has helped lead UIndy to a 35-1 overall record and to its first GLVC title since 2003. The business education major boasts a 3.93 grade point average and has posted 4.85 digs per set.
Sagat, a senior outside hitter for the Flyers, led Lewis to a 14-0 record in the GLVC during the 2009 season and has helped the club to a 30-4 overall record. The GLVC Player of the Year has averaged 3.50 kills, 2.25 digs and a .299 hitting percentage on the year. She currently has a 3.69 grade point average in elementary education.
Meyer, a sophomore outside hitter for the Miners, maintains a 4.00 grade point average in engineering management. She led S&T to a 10-27 overall record while averaging 3.54 kills and 2.64 digs per set
To be eligible for nomination to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average.
