NKU's Lewis Claims Medalist Honors at Great Lakes Men's Golf Invite
SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. - Northern Kentucky's Danny Lewis claimed medalist honors and the GLVC had five teams secure a top-ten finish at the Great Lakes Region Invitational held at Hawks Head Golf Course on Sunday and Monday. Indianapolis finished fourth as the top placing GLVC school and was followed by Bellarmine, Northern Kentucky, Drury and Lewis in the top ten.
Lewis recorded a 68-67=135 at the 36-hole invitational to finish nine-under-par. He bested Ferris State's Eric Lilleboe by three strokes in the individual standings and was the lone GLVC golfer to finish in the top five.
Indianapolis posted a two-day total of 580 to finish seven strokes behind event winner Wayne State. Bellarmine placed seventh with a score of 586 and Northern Kentucky followed closely behind with a score of 587. Drury and Lewis tied for ninth place with a two-day total of 591.
UW-Parkside finished 11th and several fellow GLVC members filtered through the standings of the 24-field event.
