USI Men's Cross Country Second in Stegemoller Classic

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men ‘s cross country finished six points behind Rend Lake College to take second place in the Stegemoller Classic Friday evening at the USI Country Course. The Stegemoller Classic was the season-opener for the Eagles, who are scheduled to host the NCAA Division II Championships in November.

The Screaming Eagles recorded their 40 points by placing four in the top 10. Sophomore Brendan Devine led the way with a fifth place finish and a 6k time of 18:42.4. He was followed by sophomore Dustin Emerick, who was seventh with a 18:54.3; junior Andrew Dixon, who was eighth with an 18:58.1; and sophomore David Goodman, who had an 18:59.5.

Rend Lake finished with a meet-best 34 points with runners placing first, second, and fourth. Bellarmine followed USI with 69 points, while Kentucky Wesleyan College took fifth with 152 points and Brescia was sixth with 153. The Stegemoller Nation, a team of USI cross country alumni, was fourth in the team scoring with 85 points.

The USI runners return to action at the Intramural complex September 26 when they host the Southern Indiana Pre-National Invitational.
