EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana men’s basketball Head Coach Rodney Watson was named the Division II Bulletin Coach of the Month for January. He led the Screaming Eagles to an emotional 8-0 record in January, including six victories on the road, and has held the squad together after the passing of senior center Jeron Lewis.
Watson is the second USI men’s basketball coach to be honored by the Division II Bulletin’s monthly award. Rick Herdes was the December Coach of the Month in 2003.
The second-ranked Eagles and Watson also have set a school record with 19 straight wins and a 19-0 mark in 2009-10. USI currently has the longest winning streak in the country.
USI returns to action Thursday when the Eagles host the University of Missouri-St. Louis at 7:30 p.m.
