NEW YORK - The Great Lakes Valley Conference had three baseball players selected during the 2010 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on June 7-9. Northern Kentucky's Jarrett Casey and Dave Middendorf and Bellarmine's Patrick Brady were each picked by a MLB club.

Casey was the first GLVC player to go off the board, selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 32nd round. Casey, a left-handed pitcher, was 6-5 for the Norse in 2010 with a 4.78 earned run average and 43 strikeouts in 52 and two-thirds innings.

Middendorf was tabbed by the New York Yankees in the 44th round. The junior lefthander was 8-2 on the mound with a 2.64 ERA. Middendorf struck out 81 batters in 61 and a third innings.

Brady, a utility player for the Knights, was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 48th round. He hit .379 with 56 RBIs and 13 home runs in 2010.

Brady and Middendorf earned first-team All-GLVC honors in 2010, while Casey was a second-team selection.

The GLVC has had 76 players selected in the MLB First-Year Player Draft since the league's inception in 1978. A complete list of those selections can be found here.
