GLVC Announces 2009-10 Team Academic Awards
INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) has announced the 2009-10 recipients of the Team Academic Award. The GLVC recognizes each team from member institutions that maintains a 3.30 grade point average for the academic year and 66 teams have earned the honor in the inaugural year of the award.
There were a total of 51 women’s teams selected for the honor in 2009-10 and 15 men’s teams. On the women’s side, 10 volleyball teams posted a GPA of 3.30 or better to lead all GLVC sports for the most teams represented on the distinguished list. Women’s soccer followed with nine teams and there were eight GLVC women’s cross country teams earn the honor.
On the men’s side, tennis had the most teams represented with six. Soccer and golf followed with three each.
Drury’s women’s cross country team posted the highest team GPA with a 3.75. The Panthers’ women’s golf team followed with a 3.72 GPA. Drury and Maryville tied for the most teams honored with each institution placing 10 teams on the list.
