Rockhurst 3, Missouri S&T 0 – BOX SCORE | RECAP
KANSAS CITY – Top-seed Rockhurst posted a pair of first-half goals against visiting Missouri S&T en route to a 3-0 victory in the quarterfinal round of the GLVC Men’s Soccer Tournament on Saturday evening. The Hawks (14-2-1) received the game-winning goal from Mark Magee in the 26th minute who posted his 11th goal of the season from 17 yards on assists by Paolo Scoppola and Nick McDonald. In the 42nd minute, Michael McDonald scored on an assist from Alioune Gueye and Lucas De Rossi added an insurance goal in the 61st minute. He was assisted on the score by Keith Williams. Ryan Bass earned the shutout with on save. Rockhurst will now host the semifinals and final of the tournament on Friday and Sunday and is slated to face Quincy in the second semifinal match on Friday night.
Drury 2, Northern Kentucky 1 – BOX SCORE | RECAP
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Defending GLVC Champion Northern Kentucky fell to Drury in the quarterfinal round of the 2011 GLVC Men’s Soccer Tournament on Saturday evening, 2-1. The No. 7 seed Panthers upset No. 2 seed NKU behind a Scott Stiffler game-winner in the 32nd minute. Stiffler, who connected on the game-winner to send Drury to the quarterfinal in Wednesday’s win over S&T, converted a shot from 30 yards out unassisted on Friday night. Matt Hutchison put the Panthers on top in the seventh minute on a penalty kick but NKU fought back to knot the score at 1-1 in the 13th minute on a Kevin Donnelly goal. Stephen Conner made saves in goal to earn the win. Drury (12-7) will advance to the semifinal of the tournament that will be held at Rockhurst and meet the winner of the Bellarmine-Indianapolis quarterfinal.
Quincy 2, Lewis 1 – BOX SCORE | RECAP
QUINCY, Ill. – Ethan Venvertloh scored in the 78th minute on Friday night to hand Quincy a 2-1 win over Lewis and send the Hawks to the semifinal round of the GLVC Men’s Soccer Tournament. Venvertloh scored his sixth goal of the season on an assist from Carl Hodges. Jordan Roberts put the Hawks up 1-0 early in the first half on an assist from Jeff Vaninger, but Lewis forged a 1-1 halftime by the break on a goal from Cristhian Ramirez. Aloisio Barros assisted on the game-tying goal. D.J. Lampert made a pair of saves in goal for the Hawks, while Alec Pickett posted nine saves for the Flyers. Quincy (11-5-2) will meet host Rockhurst in the semifinal of the tournament on Friday night.
