Bellarmine Advances on PK's 4-2

INDIANAPOLIS - After battling to a 2-2 tie on Sunday afternoon, Bellarmine earned the right to advance to the semifinal round of the GLVC Men's Soccer Tournament by virtue of a 4-2 advantage in penalty kicks. The No. 6 seed Knights (10-6-2) will now play No. 7 seed Drury in the first semifinal match at Rockhurst on Friday.

The Knights jumped on the board first earning a 1-0 advantage on Connor Brehm's goal in the 24th minute. After UIndy tied the match in the 72nd minute on an unassisted goal by Micah Uemura, Bellarmine's Paul McAuley put the Knights on top 2-1 on an assist from Dan Schiavi.

The Greyhounds' Ryan Schmidt forced overtime, however, by heading in a free kick offering from Corey Nelson in the 88th minute.

The Knights converted all four penalty kick attempts following two scoreless overtime periods. UIndy outshot Bellarmine in the contest 22-10 and Bellarmine's Blake Hunter and UIndy's Andrew Verhonik each tallied four saves.
