Team Academic All-GLVC Honorees Announced

INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) has announced the recipients of the 2010-11 Team Academic Awards. The GLVC recognizes each team from member institutions that have maintained a 3.30 grade point average for the academic year. There were a league-record 71 teams that earned the honor for the 2010-11 academic year.
There were a total of 12 men’s teams and 58 women’s teams tabbed for the honor. The sport of tennis led the men’s honorees with five of the league’s 12 men’s tennis teams earning the accolade. There were four men’s golf programs, three men’s cross country teams and one baseball team that were named to the Team Academic All-GLVC list.
On the women’s side, for the second straight year, 10 volleyball teams posted a team GPA of 3.30 or better to lead GLVC sports for the most teams represented on the Team Academic list. Volleyball shared the lead with women’s cross country which also had 10 teams on the list. Women’s soccer followed with nine teams earning the honor and there were eight women’s basketball teams with a team GPA of 3.30 or better.
The UIndy women’s golf team posted the highest team GPA during the 2010-11 academic year with a 3.75. The Northern Kentucky women’s cross country team and Rockhurst women’s tennis team followed closely behind as each posted a 3.73 GPA. Maryville led all institutions with the most teams honored as the Saints had 10 clubs on the Team Academic list.
