Bellarmine’s Martin, Lewis’ Linck Named GLVC Women’s Track & Field Honorees

INDIANAPOLIS –Bellarmine senior distance runner Carissa Martin (New Albany, IN/New Albany) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, while Lewis’ Samantha Linck (Kohler, WI/Kohler) earned the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week after their weekend performances.

Martin, a senior, led the Knights at the Gladstein Invite hosted by Indiana University over the weekend. At the meet, she out-paced a field of nearly 40 athletes to claim the ‘open’ 800 meter race with a time of 2:17.20. Martin’s finish was a personal best, and earned her a spot in the Bellarmine indoor record books. Martin’s time also lands her at the top of the GLVC in this event.
 
Lewis senior Samantha Linck led the Flyers at the Dick Pond Invitational over the weekend. Linck won the women’s high jump event with an NCAA Provisional jump of 1.71 meters. This jump earned Linck first place at the Flyers home event, and is also the leading jump in the GLVC.  
 
The Bellarmine squad returns to action at the Engineer Invitational in Terre Haute on Saturday, while the Lewis Flyers will head to Bloomington for the Indiana Relays.
