MONDAY, MAY 14
University of Indianapolis junior pitcher Phil Wheeler's no-hitter against Rockhurst at the 2012 GLVC Baseball Championship Tournament on Saturday, May 12, has made SportsCenter's Top-10 Plays of the weekend, joining two other college no-hitters at the No. 3 spot.

SUNDAY, MAY 13
Welcome to Championship Sunday at the 2012 GLVC Baseball Championship Tournament here at Bosse Field in Evansville, Ind.  No. 2 Northern Kentucky and No. 6 Missouri-St. Louis are underway in the 11 a.m. CT contest that will detemrine who plays top-seeded Indianapolis for the championship at 2:30 p.m. today.  Follow today's first game by clicking HERE.

ON THE MOUND: Here is a look at the matchup for today's first contest at Bosse Field...
NKU Matt Jefferson (5-2, 3.93 ERA) vs. UMSL Zach Standefer (2-1, 2.54 ERA)

TRITONS ON TOP:  Two Northern Kentucky errors in the top of the second inning have led to a 2-0 advantage by Missouri-St. Louis.  Following a fly out by Trevor Nathanson, UMSL loaded the bases after John Pilackas was hit by a ptich, and then NKU botched a potential double play with a dropped ball at second.  Joel Ayala was next credited with a single but he advanced to second on a throwing error by NKU third baseman Brandon Wood.  Nolan Craig advanced from first to third and was then thrown out at the plate trying to be the third Triton to score after Taylor Holman and Pilackas crossed the plate.

UMSL GIVES ONE BACK:  Northern Kentucky has answered with one run in the bottom of the second, as Zac Asman reached first base with a single and then advanced on a wild pitch and scored following a throwing error off a Jake Morris single.  Morris then advanced to third after a wild pitch by Zach Standefer, but the UMSL hurler rebounded to strike Brandon Wood out looking.

WHAT WAS THAT?!?!?!:  A baseball has just cleared the wall at Bosse Field!  In a shocking turn of events, a home run has been registered at Bosse Field as Northern Kentucky's Pat Williams roped a liner over the rightfield fence.  Bosse Field has done its best to keep in several deep balls this weekend, proving to be quite the pitcher's park.  Northern Kentucky is now responsible for both home runs hit this weekend, with the other coming off the bat of Phil Smith in NKU's 6-0 victory over Drury at USI Field on Thursday.

MORE ERRORS, MORE RUNS:  UMSL has given away another run due to a fielding error.  Jake Morris hit a one-out single to shortstop and then advanced to the second on a throwing error by Justin Lois.  He then moved to third on a Bandon Wood single and scored following a wild pitch by Zach Standefer.  Wood then scored on a single by Max Colaner.

STRANDED:  Missouri-St. Louis has been denied a rally once again, having left the bases loaded for three straight outs in the top of the fifth inning.

TIME TO CROWN A CHAMPION:  The 2012 GLVC Baseball Tournament Championship is set! No. 1 Indianapolis will face No. 2 Northern Kentucky at 2:30 p.m. CT for the conference title. The Greyhounds are looking for their fifth league crown, while the Norse will be battling for their sixth and final GLVC Championship as NKU will move to Division I competition next year. ON THE MOUND: Here is a look at the matchup for today's championship title game...
UINDY Patrick Kraft (1-0, 3.00 ERA) vs. NKU Drew Campbell (4-1, 6.51 ERA)

NOT-SO-HAPPY BIRTHDAY:  Northern Kentucky's Brandon Wood is celebrating his 21st birthday today, but the celebration is a bit subdued after he was forced to leave the game in the top of the fourth inning.  Wood charged in hard from third base and made a diving catch on a popped-up bunt by UIndy's Ryan Wides.  It appeared as if Wood injured his right throwing hand, but walked off under his own power and was replaced by Josh Myers.

UINDY TAKES CONTROL:  Indianapolis has taken a 2-0 advantage in a busy top half of the fourth inning.  Adam Rusche opened the inning with a walk and then advanced to second after Scot Lawley was hit by a pitch.  Both runners then advanced one base after a balk was called on the mound.  Mike Page delivered a single to the left side and scored Rusche for the first run of the game.  Matt Maringer hit a deep sacrafice fly to left to score Lawley and give UIndy the 2-0 advantage.

INDIANAPOLIS WINS:  The University of Indianapolis has captured the 2012 Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Championship Tournament, following a 4-3 victory over Northern Kentucky University at Bosse Field in Evansville, Ind., Sunday. The top-seeded Greyhounds, who won their fifth GLVC baseball crown and first since 2001, earned the GLVC’s automatic bid to NCAA Regional action.  MORE>>>

SATURDAY, MAY 12
It's Semifinal Saturday at Bosse Field as the 2012 GLVC Baseball Championship Tournament gets underway at 11 a.m. CT.  Top-seeded Indianapolis will look to avoid elimination once again when it opens the day's action against No. 4 Rockhurst.  Live stats for the game can be found by clicking HERE

ON THE MOUND: Here is a look at the matchup for today's first contest at Bosse Field...
UINDY Alex Wood (5-1, 4.54 ERA) vs. RU Zach Loeffelholz (2-2, 5.36 ERA)

ROCKIN' ROCKHURST PITCHING:  Through two GLVC Championship Tournament games, Rockhurst paces all tournament teams with a 0.00 ERA on the mound.  In 18.0 innings, the Hawks have allowed one run, four walks and eight hits, while striking out 17 batters.  Indianapolis on the other hand, holds a 3.00 ERA with 11 runs (10 unearned) and six walks given up.  The Greyhounds have recorded a tournament-high 22 strikeouts as well.

DIVIN' RYAN:  Indianapolis leftfielder Ryan Wildes made two outstanding diving plays in the bottom of the second, taking away what would have been two Rockhurst bloop singles.  Wildes charged in on dove forward on both plays to recorded the first and second outs of the inning.  Wildes appeared to be shaken up after the second catch, but he stayed in the game and actually lead off the top of the third inning for the Greyhounds with a pop-up to third.

OUT OF A JAM:  Credit Rockhurst's Zach Loeffelholz for getting himself out of a jam in the top of the third inning.  After popping up Wildes for the first out, Loeffelholz walked Scot Lawley and then picked him off a first base.  With two outs and the bases empty, he hit a batter and allowed two singles to load the bases.  On an 0-2 count, Loeffelholz forced to DH Scott Mourey to line out to shortstop to end the inning with no runs allowed on the board.

NOT WAITING FOR EXTRA INNINGS:  Indianapolis has struck first in the game with three unearned runs in the top of the seventh inning.  Here is a look at how the Greyhounds got it done.

NICE DAY AT THE OFFICE:  After allowing Rockhurst's Patrick Chandler to reach second off a throwing error to start the inning, Indianapolis head coach Gary Vaught felt it was time to relieve starting pitcher Alex Wood of his duties.  Wood was deadly accurate on the day, throwing 64 pitches with 45 of those being strikes (.703).  He faced 21 batters in 6.0 innings on the day, striking out three while allowing only two hits.

ROCKHURST RALLY FALLS JUST SHORT:  Rockhurst's Ryan Porter did his best to rally the Hawks in the bottom of the ninth inning with a one-out, two-RBI triple that closed the Greyhounds' lead to 3-2.  After striking out T.J. Dailey, UIndy's Chris Saroff fanned Brandon Tangney to end the game and earn the save.  Indianapolis and Rockhurst will now play at 6 p.m. CT Saturday with the winner advancing to the GLVC Championship Tournament final.

TRITONS, NORSE MEET AT BOSSE:  For the first time at the 2012 GLVC Baseball Championship Tournament, the Missouri-St. Louis Tritons and Northern Kentucky Norse are playing at historic Bosse Field.  Both teams played their previous tournament games at USI Field on Thursday and Friday.

ON THE MOUND: Here is a look at the matchup for today's second contest at Bosse Field...
UMSL Austin Schuler (3-2, 3.30 ERA) vs. NKU Tim Clark (4-2, 4.88 ERA)

HOT HITTING:  Today's second semifinal matchup between Northern Kentucky and Missouri-St. Louis features the GLVC Championship Tournament's top two hitting teams.  NKU boasts a .338 batting average through two games, while UMSL is hitting .321 through three games.

CRAIG CONTINUES TO BE HOT:  Missouri-St. Louis leftfielder Nolan Craig continues his hot hitting here at the 2012 GLVC Baseball Championship Tournament.  Craig just singled up the middle to score teammate John Pliakcas to give the Tritons a 1-0 advantage.  Craig is now 9-of-13 at the plate here in the postseason, with three doubles and six RBIs.

THE ONLY ONE:  Through five innings of play, Northern Kentucky has just one hit in this contest.  As mentioned above, the Norse is the hottest-hitting team in the tournament with a .338 batting average.  NKU's lone hit came in the top of the second inning off the bat of Jake Morris.

ANOTHER WAY TO SCORE:  Northern Kentucky is on the board, but the Norse scored with still just one hit in the game.  Morris, who has NKU's lone hit in the game, was hit by a pitch to start the inning.  Following a sacrafice bunt that moved him to second, Morris then found third base on a wild pitch.  Morris crossed the plate following a ground out by Bradley Vanderglas.

NEVER TOO LATE:  Northern Kentucky had been held to just one hit until the Norse began its rally in the top of the eighth inning, adding two hits and two runs to bring the UMSL lead to 5-3.  Max Colaner singled through the left side and advanced to second following a walk by Zac Asman.  Both runners then advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a single to right center by Brad Clement.

LET'S PLAY TWO:  Missouri-St. Louis followed the lead of Indianapolis Saturday by avoiding elimination at the 2012 GLVC Baseball Championship Tournament.  The Tritons held off a late rally by the Norse and took a 5-3 win to force a rematch with NKU Sunday morning at 11 a.m. CT.  The winner will advance to the tournament championship game.

ON THE MOUND:  Here's a look at who is on the mound in our final contest of the night:
RU Nick Lichtenberger (3-3, 6.25) vs. UINDY Phil Wheeler (2-2, 3.97 ERA)

HOUNDS ON TOP FIRST:  Indianapolis has drawn first blood as Scott Mourey singled up the middle to score Matt Maringer.

NO-NO STILL INTACT:  Through four innings, UIndy's Phil Wheeler has kept Rockhurst hitless while striking out two and walking three.

YEAH...ABOUT THAT DELAY...:  You know how it is...  when there is a no-hitter going on in the ballpark, nobody says or WRITES anything.  GLVCsports.com has to go quiet as well as it watched greatness on the mound Saturday night.  Congratulations to Phil Wheeler on throwing what records indicate as the first no-hitter ever thrown in GLVC Championship Tournament play.  Here are three videos to show how Wheeler almost lost is no-no in the ninth if it wasn't for a diving grab by rightfielder Adam Rusche, the final out of the game, and a postgame interview with the Greyhounds' star.
