2012 GLVC CHAMPIONSHIP PAGE | RESULTS

RENSSELAER, Ind. - Day one is in the books at the 2012 GLVC Outdoor Track and Field Championship, which is taking place at the Michael J. Vallone/Class of 1960 Track and Field Complex, May 4-5, on the campus of Saint Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Ind.  Indianapolis (44) holds a slight lead over Missouri S&T (43.50) on the men's side, while the Greyhounds (36) are tied with Lewis (36) for first on the women's side. 

A total of six women's events were scored Friday, with William Jewell as the lone team to earn more than one title.  The Cardinals' Jessica Borey clinched the pole vault title with a clearance of 3.58 meters, while teammate Britany Riley launched the javelin 35.44 meters for the win.  Other GLVC champions included Bellarmine's Emily Frith in the 10,000-meter run (37:05.16), Indianapolis' Isabelle May in the discus (43.28m), Lewis' Karissa Hoffman in the triple jump (11.28m), and Southern Indiana's Augusta Schrader in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:17.22).  Halfway through the heptathlon, Saint Joseph's Samantha Nirva (2501) holds a 74-point advantage over Lindsay Crutcher (2427).  

Six events were also scored on the men's side and both Bellarmine and Southern Indiana staked claim to two titles Friday.  The Knights' Jordan Parayil placed first in the 10,000 meters with a time of 31:33.02, while teammate Bryan Gennett cleared 4.83 meters for the pole vault crown.  The Screaming Eagles were led by Michael Callison and his 3,000-meter steeplechase winning time of 9:03.27, as well as javelin thrower Zach Ballenger, who recorded a distance of 50.58 meters in the victory.  Elsewhere, Indianapolis' Matt Royer added another GLVC title to his resume, scoring a hammer throw win with a distance of 67.15 meters.  Missouri S&T's Adriel Hawkins took first in the triple jump with mark of 14.23 meters.  Lewis' Phil Hodur (3443) leads William Jewell's Logan Pettz (3402) by 41 points halfway through the decathlon.

GLVC Championship action continues Saturday with multi-events beginning at 9 a.m. CT.
