INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Indianapolis has secured the top seed in the 2012 Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Championship Tournament, which takes place May 10-13 at both Bosse Field and USI Field in Evansville, Ind. With a 26-8 conference record, the Greyhounds also clinched the outright GLVC East Division title. UIndy will be joined in the field by Northern Kentucky (25-11), Missouri S&T (20-9), the GLVC West Division champions, Rockhurst (20-11), Quincy (19-12), Drury (21-15) and Lewis (21-15).
Due to an April 29 rainout between Missouri-St. Louis and Missouri S&T, the teams had previously arranged to make up the contest on Tuesday, May 8, which is permitted in the conference bylaws. Tuesday’s contest will determine the eighth and final team in the bracket as well as the remaining seeds.
The top three teams from the GLVC East Division, along with the top two from the GLVC West Division and three wildcard squads make up the eight-team field, based on winning percentage in conference play.
Stay tuned to glvcsports.com for a complete tournament bracket release following the contest between the Tritons and Miners at 2:30 p.m. CT on Tuesday.
