2012 GLVC BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT | BRACKET

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis has secured the eighth and final spot in this week’s 2012 Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Championship Tournament, which takes place May 10-13 at both Bosse Field and USI Field in Evansville, Ind. With a two-out, bases loaded, two-run single to left centerfield, sophomore Taylor Holman gave the Tritons a 2-1 victory over Missouri S&T on Tuesday and their first bid to the conference’s postseason tournament since 2004. The seven other league squads that make up the eight-team field were announced Sunday, led by top seed and GLVC East Division Champion, Indianapolis (26-8). The Greyhounds will be joined by No. 2 seed Northern Kentucky (25-11), No. 3 Missouri S&T (20-10), No. 4 Rockhurst (20-11), No. 5 Quincy (19-12), No. 6 Missouri-St. Louis (20-14), No. 7 Drury (21-15), and No. 8 Lewis (21-15).
Drury received the No. 7 seed on a tiebreaker that saw the Panthers defeat Lewis 14-4 in the first game of a doubleheader on March 25.
The top three teams from the GLVC East Division, along with the top two from the GLVC West Division and three wildcard squads make up the bracket, based on winning percentage in conference play.
The top-seeded Greyhounds (.765) will open postseason play against No. 8 Lewis (.583) on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Bosse Field – the primary venue for the 2012 GLVC Baseball Championship Tournament.
No. 2 Northern Kentucky (.694) will face No. 7 Drury (.583) at USI Field on the campus of the University of Southern Indiana on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. CT.
No. 3 Missouri S&T (.667), the GLVC West Division Champions, will meet No. 6 Missouri-St. Louis (.588) in an instant rematch of Tuesday’s thriller with first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at USI.
Opening the tournament at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bosse Field are No. 4 Rockhurst (.645) and No. 5 Quincy (.613). The two teams were to play a four-game weekend series last week, but were washed of the final two games on Sunday, April 29. Quincy took the first two from Rockhurst by scores of 7-6 and 2-1.
The event will mark the 33rd GLVC Baseball Championship Tournament and the first time it has been held at historic Bosse Field.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students, and $5 for children, while kids 5-and-under are free. Tickets will be available at those prices from Thursday through Saturday, while Sunday's tickets will dip to $8 for adults, $5 for students, and $3 for children. The GLVC is offering an All-Tournament pass for $35.
Last year marked a significant moment for Quincy's Josh Rabe, who guided the Hawks to the 2011 GLVC Baseball Championship with an 8-2 win over Northern KentuckyKentucky.  Rabe, in his first year as the Hawks head coach, led Quincy to its second ever GLVC Championship with the only other title coming in the 2000 season when he was an All-American outfielder for Quincy.
Lewis holds the league mark for most titles won with six and the Flyers are one of 11 different schools to have claimed a championship in baseball. Bellarmine (2), Drury (1), Indianapolis (4), Missouri-St. Louis (1) Northern Kentucky (5), Quincy (2), Saint Joseph's (5), Southern Indiana (4), UW-Parkside (1) and former GLVC member SIU Edwardsville (2) have each registered titles.
