INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) has announced the recipients of the 2011-12 Team Academic All-GLVC Awards. The GLVC recognizes each team from member institutions that have maintained a 3.30 grade point average for the academic year. There were a league-record 85 teams that earned the honor for the 2011-12 academic year, shattering the previous mark of 70 set a year ago.

There were a total of 13 men’s teams and 72 women’s teams tabbed for the honor. The sport of tennis led the men’s honorees yet again with six of the league’s 14 men’s tennis teams earning the accolade. There were three men’s cross country teams, two men’s golf programs, and one baseball and soccer team each that were named to the Team Academic All-GLVC list.
Tennis also paced the conference on the women’s side, as 12 squads posted a team GPA of 3.30 or better. Cross country, soccer and volleyball followed with 11 teams each.
The Drury women’s golf team posted the highest team GPA during the 2011-12 academic year with a 3.72. The Indianapolis women’s tennis squad followed with a 3.71 GPA, while Drury’s women’s basketball program and Maryville’s women’s tennis team tied for the third-best GPA at 3.70. Drury led all institutions with the most teams honored as the Panthers had 10 clubs on the Team Academic All-GLVC list.
