INDIANAPOLIS – In anticipation of its first season of football this fall, the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) will host “GLVC Football Kickoff 2012” in St. Louis, Mo., on Friday, July 27.  The event, which will serve both the league’s media members and passionate fans through several social media outlets, will take place at the Millennium Student Center on the campus of the University of Missouri-St. Louis from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. CT.

The head coach and one student-athlete from each of the nine GLVC football institutions will be on hand to help promote the conference’s inaugural season.  Scheduled to attend are Central State University head coach E.J. Junior III and senior DL Jonathan Jones, University of Indianapolis head coach Bob Bartolomeo and senior WR Mar’Quone Edmonds, Kentucky Wesleyan College head coach Brent Holtsclaw and sophomore RB Jeff Ward, McKendree University head coach Carl Poelker and senior QB David Bergschneider, Missouri S&T head coach David Brown and senior OL Matt Mast, Quincy University head coach Tom Pajic and senior CB Todd Jordan, Saint Joseph’s College head coach Cory Sanders and junior QB Billy VandeMerkt, Urbana University head coach David Taynor and junior QB D.J. Mendenhall, and William Jewell College head coach Jerod Kruse and junior QB Sean Shelton.

Last season, Kentucky Wesleyan, Missouri S&T, Saint Joseph’s and Urbana competed in the Great Lakes Football Conference (GLFC), while Quincy and McKendree wrapped up their final season in the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) and Indianapolis concluded an era with the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Each head coach and student-athlete will rotate through a number of 10-minute stations designed to promote GLVC football on various platforms, including a live stream video press conference, an interactive Cover It Live interview with media and fans, engaging video interviews that will be uploaded to the GLVC’s official YouTube page, an Instagram photo shoot, and responses to questions submitted by fans through the GLVC Facebook page and Twitter account (@GLVCsports).

The inaugural GLVC Preseason Poll will also be released via Twitter over the course of the first 90 minutes of the event.

A photo gallery featuring the day’s activities, as well as group pictures of the head coaches and student-athletes in attendance, will also be available on GLVCsports.com following the event.

The official GLVC Football Kickoff 2012 website, which includes a schedule of events and information on how fans can submit questions for the attendees, will be announced on Friday, July 20.
