CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL | RESULTS (PDF)
ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University earned its sixth league title Saturday night at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held at Lewis Stadium on the Flyers' campus in Romeoville, Ill.
The Flyers posted 197 points overall to post a 41-point victory over runner-up Indianapolis (156), which holds the conference mark with seven crowns, including the last five heading into this year. Truman State finished third with 96 points, followed Bellarmine (62), McKendree (59) and William Jewell (47). Saint Joseph’s placed seventh with 45 points, while Southern Indiana and Maryville tied for eighth at 39 points each. Maryville (38), UW-Parkside and Drury (5) rounded out the 12-team field.
Following the event, Lewis earned three of the four major conference awards as Chantel Stennis was named GLVC Track Athlete of the Year, Amanda Farrough was tabbed as Freshman of the Year, and head coach Dana Schwarting was voted by his peers as GLVC Coach of the Year. Saturday night's title marked the first-ever outdoor crown for Schwarting since he took over the Flyers' program nine years ago. Indianapolis’ Tatiana Zhuravleva was selected as GLVC Field Athlete of the Year.
