INDIANAPOLIS – Missouri S&T junior quarterback Tyler Swart, Southwest Baptist University senior defensive end Via Manuma, and McKendree University sophomore linebacker John Alvin have earned Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week honors in football, it was announced by the league office Monday.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tyler Swart, Missouri S&T

Team Result: 65-16 home win vs. Lincoln
- Had a hand in six of the Miners’ nine touchdowns
- Turned in 13-of-20 effort for 215 passing yards and matched career high of four touchdowns (26, 15, 44, 13 yards)
- Scored on two 1-yard touchdown runs
- Earns his second Offensive Player of the Week award (11/16/15)

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

- Totaled 6.0 tackles, including five solo stops
- Recorded 2.5 sacks for a loss of 23 yards
- Netted 3.5 tackles for loss for 25 yards
- Currently leads the GLVC with 11.0 sacks and 17.5 TFL
- Earns his first career Defensive Player of the Week award

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
John Alvin, McKendree

Team Result: 20-16 home win vs. Saint Joseph’s
- Down 16-14 with 1:10 remaining, he broke through the middle of the line to block a punt that resulted in a 30-yard return to the SJC 3-yard line
- Two plays later, McKendree scored its 13th point in 43 seconds, capping off a rally that eliminated a 16-7 deficit
- Play helped McKendree improve its Homecoming record to 20-1 since 1996
- Earns first career Special Teams Player of the Week award
