INDIANAPOLIS -- No. 2 seed Rockhurst University and No. 4 seed McKendree University will play for the 2016 Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Soccer Championship on Sunday, Nov. 6 at Carroll Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Rockhurst defeated No. 3 University of Missouri-St. Louis 1-0, while McKendree advanced on penalty kicks, 4-1, after a scoreless draw through double overtime against top-seeded Truman State University.
In the first semifinal of the day, 15th-ranked Rockhurst was able to hold on to a 1-0 win after scoring in the seventh minute of play off the foot of Kaley Nieters.
The second semifinal turned into the longest of the day, as neither 18th-ranked Truman nor McKendree could find the back of the net through 110 minutes, which forced the match into penalty kicks to decide it all. The Bearcats’ freshman goalkeeper Zoe Brochu emerged the hero, as she successfully saved the first two Bulldog attempts and her teammates backed her up by scoring all their chances for the eventual 4-1 result in the shootout.
Sunday's title match will take place at 12 p.m. ET and be streamed live on the GLVC Sports Network at
