Sunday Semifinals Set for GLVC Women's Tennis Championship Tournament

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Semifinal action for the 2017 Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Tennis Championship Tournament has been set for Sunday, following four quarterfinal matches on Friday at various indoor courts in the surrounding St. Louis area, including the Vetta Sports-Concord facility in St. Louis, the Sunset Tennis Center in Sappington, Missouri, and St. Clair Tennis Club in O’Fallon, Illinois.

University of Indianapolis, University of Missouri-St. Louis, Drury University, and Lewis University all advanced to the semifinals.

Top seed in the East Indianapolis defeated #4W Maryville University, 5-0, in an early morning match that began at 7:30 a.m., while No. 1 West UMSL followed at 12:30 p.m. with a 5-0 sweep of its own against #4E University of Illinois Springfield.

The second seed in the East, Bellarmine University, and the West’s third seed Drury had first serve shortly thereafter at 1:30 p.m., as the Panthers pulled off a 5-1 victory to advance. No. 3 East Lewis then played in the nightcap at 8:30 p.m., picking up the 5-3 result against No. 2 West Rockhurst University after almost three hours on the court.

UIndy will now meet Lewis and Drury will face UMSL in Sunday’s semifinals, as both matches will begin at approximately 9 a.m. CT on the outdoor courts at Dwight Davis Tennis Center. Streaming on the GLVC Sports Network will occur for the UIndy-Lewis matchup at GLVCSN.com.

Semifinal winners will advance to Monday’s championship contest, with the start time set for 9 a.m.
