First Day of 2019 GLVC Wrestling Championship Concludes

Day one of 2019 Great Lakes Valley Conference Wrestling Championships wrapped up in Nicoson Hall on the campus of University of Indianapolis Saturday, Feb. 2, as two of the seven teams went unbeaten through the first four rounds.

Round 1:
In the first round, No. 15 Indianapolis defeated No. 24 Drury, 39-10, with five pins. No. 6 McKendree narrowly escaped No. 13 Maryville, 21-15, and the final matchup saw No. 25 Ouachita Baptist secure a 27-10 win over Truman State.

Round 2:
The second round of the day saw McKendree blank Truman 53-0 to remain unbeaten at 2-0. UIndy also returned to the mat, scoring a 29-17 win to survive a scare from Bellarmine. The final mat saw Maryville avenge its first lost of the day for a win over Ouachita, 40-9, with three pins.

Round 3:
With some back and forth in the early weight classes, Bellarmine was able to upset Drury, 35-12, after a forfeit at 165 proved to be the go-ahead difference. McKendree pushed its record to 3-0 with a 42-7 win against OBU, and Maryville picked up its second win of the day to close out the round with a 50-6 win over Truman.

Round 4:
The final round of the day started out with Maryville pulling away from Bellarmine for the 25-15 win, while Drury got its first win of the day, defeating Truman 34-12. The final matchup of the day saw UIndy defeat OBU 43-6.
