The 2012 Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship will be held at the Country Club of Paducah in Paducah, Ky. on April 15-17, 2012. This year's event marks the 34th annual GLVC Men's Golf Championship.
The 2012 event is the first year the event will be held in Paducah. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, the Country Club of Paducah features a 6,879-yard par 72 golf course with a course rating of 74.4 and a slope rating of 134.
The GLVC tournament features a 54-hole stroke play event with the top four teams following stroke play competing in match play to determine the conference champion. A total of 18 holes are played on Sunday, April 15, followed by 36 holes on Monday, April 16. The semifinals and finals of match play will take place on Tuesday, April 17.
Indianapolis has captured 13 GLVC Men’s Golf Championships, followed by Lewis with six, and Bellarmine and Northern Kentucky with five each. Southern Indiana, UW-Parkside and former league-member Ashland have all claimed the GLVC Men's Golf Championship once.
Last season, Lewis won the GLVC Men's Golf Championship at Panther Creek Country Club by finishing with a 36-hole total of 584. The Flyers, who claimed their sixth league title, defeated Northern Kentucky by seven strokes.
The top five finishers at the GLVC Men's Golf Championship are named All-GLVC and the top finishing individual after 54-hole medal play earns medalist honors. The remaining golf awards are named following the spring season.
Admission to the 2012 GLVC Men's Golf Championship is free to the public.
